What is NES Homebrew?
Homebrew games are new games created for the NES by independent developers. These aren't ROMs of commercial games — they're original creations that developers have made available for free. They run on original NES hardware and in emulators like the one we use here.

NES SoonAbout NES Development
The NES homebrew scene is alive and well. Developers use tools like NESmaker, cc65, and assembly language to create new games for the 8-bit console. Many of these games are released for free, while others are sold as physical cartridges.
The NES has limitations that make game development a unique challenge: only 2KB of RAM, a 1.79 MHz processor, and a PPU that can display 25 colors on screen at once. Despite these constraints, developers continue to push the hardware to its limits.
